Viewing PDF/A images

What Adobe product do I need to use to view PDF/A images that have been created by scanning in documents on a photocopier (MFD)? Currently we use Adobe Export PDF and on Windows 8.1.  All of the existing images either show as .pdf or Adobe Acrobat Document.  I need it to show PDF/A.

PDF/A files do not have a separate file type. They are just PDF, with limitations, not a file needing special readers. In fact that's the whole point of PDF/A.

As a government agency in Victoria, Australia, we need to demonstrate that our images are in PDF/A-1 or PDF/A-2 format as per the ISO 19005 Standard, so we can transfer those records to the State Archives Digital Archive holdings. I have now discovered on the Adobe Acrobat site the page for PDF/A conversions - appears we need to have Adobe Acrobat Pro software.  Thank you all for your responses

You can view the files with Acrobat Reader DC.
