Viewing pdf stopped by offer free trial

Hi, everytime i try to open pdf I get offer of free trail to create pdf and convert to pdf's. Don't need this ATM. Ca't get rid of it or go round? Any suggestions please? picture attached.

Is the file you are opening definitely a PDF? You will get this if you try to open other file types in Reader/Acrobat.

    thanks. Yes, well windows identifies it as 'Adobe Acrobat Document' even though its a picture?

    Ok, Windows could easily be mistaken. What is the actual file type (last part of the name). Right click - Properties to check. It will say 

    Type of file: Adobe Acrobat Document (.xxx). What is the .xxx?

    Thank you for reaching out.

     

    Please try the following steps:

    - Go to Menu > Preferences > General.

    - Scroll down the right pane to Message from/ to Adobe.

    - Unmark the box for "Show me messages when I launch Adobe Acrobat Reader".

    - Click on the OK button.

    Check the screenshot below for reference.

    thanks but no better. Seems to work occasionally for some files?

    Made changes including restart etc
