Question

Weeks later - An Internal Error Occurred (mins long delay, open crash) Acrobat, Window

It can't just be me - on almost new laptop running Adobe CC with version 22.0, fully updated Windows 11.

  1. double click to open PDFs or try to attach them in email
  2. delay in opening document
  3. frozen PC
  4. wait until the error sound I've heard a hundred times
  5. have to click to close 'An internal error occured'
  6. then it might do what I want it to do.

How is there such a challenging problem that it's been months since this worked right?

Grateful for any help that isn't programmer-level to solve.

@adobe please can we have an update on this? You've been silent on this issue since september. The solutions mentioned aren't working for everyone. It's been months. PDFs are a staple part of my day to day, and they're constantly crashing my machine, not saving, not loading, not previewing, crashing programs etc etc. Whats going on, when will this be fixed?

This issue resurfaces over and over again and has been for years without any real solutions or even a response mosst of the time to acknowledge there is an issue. Will someone from Adobe look at this and at least try to provide an answer? I have tried every single suggestion to fix or workaround for this issue but nothing works. I open Acrobat I get an internal error occurs. I can't even close that box; it just immediately reopens. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, run the cleaners, deleted unknown accounts in the Security tab, factory reset my PC, installed updates, reinstalled Acrobat using the Creative Cloud interface, etc., etc. Nothing seems to fix this issue if you run Windows 11.

Additionally, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat seem to constantly be battling each other, however; if others are like me, we need and use both. Why am I spending over $600/year for programs that rarely work or if they do you lose productivity with the constant issues? I use Adobe because it was convenient and has what I need in one package, however; it is no longer convenient, wastes my time, costs me money in lost productivity and outright ruins my day. I'm ready to start finding and using other developers software and have already replaced Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc. with GIMP.

My only solution as a modem tech user - literally uninstall Acrobat and use
the web version.
