weird font

Hi

When I am editing text in some (not all) pdf files the characters are coming up like this:   ١٥/٠١/٢٠٢٤  regardlesss of what font is selected

Off-topic, these numerals are strictly used in Arabic text, these numerals aren't known in India. There is a historical story behind them, but yeah, these numbers are used in Arabic countries only. 🙂

So it turns out....when I was receiving some (not all) pdf files (as attachments or downloads) the default text was set as Hindi. No idea why it is happening just with some files. Will investigate more.

These are Hindi numerals (also used in Arabic).

Go to Edit - Preferences - Language and tick off the box next to "Hindi Digits":

And even more confusingly, the numerals used everywhere else in the world (1, 2, 3, etc.) are actually Arabic numerals (no longer used in Arabic), though...
