What Preflight profile in Acrobat Pro to use for Web Offset Magazine printing

We are a magazine publisher, printing on a web offset gloss publication press. What preflight panel should we be using to show us pdf file problems and fixes that are appropriate for our type printing. We commonly print on 40-60lb web gloss stock. Our workflow is to open a pdf, preflight it and fix it if needed prior sending to the printer.  We have upgraded from 10 to Acrobat Pro and the preflight choices look a bit different.

I’m suggesting you make one. I don’t agree with using existing ones made for someone else or a genetic need. You should understand and justify all the tests in your profile, so you can help producers meet them.

The profile should check for issues specific to you. Low resolution images would be my starting point. Almost everything else people check for is based on myths like “RGB is bad”. Do you have a spec sheet for advertisers?

yes we have a spec sheet for advertisers.  My question is which profile is best suited to our printing environment?  There are quite a few profiles.

As a customer I would expect to get from you the specs to follow-up when creating a PDF file.

You, on your site should be able to check if the customer created the file according your intend. if not, you need to warn the customer on the deviations. So I agree with Test Screen Name, your check-up should be customized to your needs.
