when exporting a pdf to word how do I stop it duplicating the text so it looks like words and their shadows

I have 2 documents that were written in word and converted to pdf several years ago. We have lost the originals so am now trying to export pdfs back to word. It has worked with one document perfectly but the other one all the text looks as though it has been duplicated on top of itself so it looks like text and it's shadow. I can't change the font in word ... any suggestions of what has happened and if it can be fixed. Thanks.

Hi sallyh24412140,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Font used for the file is that available on your machine? You may try running OCR on the file, save it with a different name and then try to export it again? Edit scanned PDFs, turn off automatic OCR, Adobe Acrobat
