Question

When I create a PDF from Word, the formatting changes.

We use Gill Sans Std Light as our main font. Whether I use Acrobat Pro X, print to a PDF from Word or save as PDF in Word, the formatting changes. Mostly, page breaks change.

Word actually also has the same issues at time, when we print documents. I suspect it is more a font issue than a Acrobat Pro X issue.

There are many variations of the Gill Sans Light font, wonder if I need to purchase another type (Gill Sans Pro Light or something). Gill Sans Std Light is an OpenType, not sure if that is an issue.

We'd appreciate any tips to deal with the issue.

Kind regards,

Rolf

You might want to try using the PDF Maker in the Word Acrobat Ribbon (if you haven't yet). It's the "Create PDF" button. It generally is the most robust option for creating PDF from Word, and the fidelity to the source document should be the most reliable & precise.  The Preferences button would allow you to set/check the font inclusion options.

I hope this is helpful.

My best,

Dave

Hi Rolf,

Sorry for the delay in response.

I hope you already have found a solution to this problem. If not, have you tried to check if there are any pending updates for the application?

Also, i would like to mention this version of Acrobat has been declared End of Support: Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader X End of Support | Adobe Document Cloud

End of Support

End of Support means that Adobe will no longer provide technical support or distribute runtimes, including product and/or security updates, for all derivatives of a product or product version (e.g. localized versions, minor upgrades, operating systems, dot and double-dot releases, and connector products).
