Question

When I create the pdf, text box is missing

I've created a 24X36 poster in Microsoft Publisher. I have a new PC with Acrobat Pro 2017. It looks fine in Print Preview. When I print/save-as-Adobe pdf, using the option to make it fit on a 8.5X11 page, one of the text boxes never appears on the resulting pdf. This box has text in it, as well as color fill in the original doc. Oddly, a couple other similar text boxes on the page that usually do appear in the pdf will sometimes go missing as well. The text box that won't work is literally a copy of one that does print. I've tried recreating it, thinking it was faulty, but it didn't help. I need to create a pdf to send the full-size poster to the print shop. I also need to have the 8.5x11 version to pass out as a flyer. I've looked at other community problems with missing elements, but they don't seem to apply. Please help!

Hi Elizabethm,

Sorry for the trouble caused.

We cannot say what exactly creating the issue without checking the document.

Would it be possible to share both the files ( Publisher and PDF) with us, so we can check it on our end?

Also, let us know if you have checked the issue occurs with this particular file or with other files as well.

You may share the file with the steps provided here How to share a file using Adobe Document Cloud

If you do not wish to share the PDF on the public forums, you may initiate a private message. How Do I Send Private Message

Please let us know the Adobe Acrobat 2017 version you are using on the machine. Take help of the steps provided in this help link Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

I called customer support today and they determined it doesn’t matter what the problem is because officially Acrobat doesn’t support Publisher files (even though I’ve been making pdfs from Publisher for 15 years. How can I put that answer on the site? It might help other people like me.

Hi Elizabeth,

I'm really not trying to sound cold and heartless here but please think of these issues: for a number of years the PDF format has been available to anyone who wants to use it. It has ISO standards that companies are SUPPOSED to follow. But obviously that doesn't mean they all do. Adobe actually does.

Publisher created a PDF from their own PDF creation capability. Sad but true, this is a Microsoft issue, not Adobe. It was their PDF creation issues that is/are causing your problems, not Adobe.

FWIW, when I've created large posters, I've done it in Adobe Illustrator, or even InDesign. IF I had issues it would have been either the Illustrator team, InDesign team, or the Acrobat team all Adobe, not Microsoft.

Perhaps you should go onto Microsoft's forums and let people know about this issue because it's a Microsoft issue. Not Adobe's.

If I had a Ford and complained that Toyota wasn't helping me, it would be little different.

I wish I could help you more but I cannot. I'm very sorry.
