When I try to edit PDF it changes what I started with

I am losing my mind. I have a template to be used for the body if a document. It has the sides branded the way I need. I need to lay copy over it and make it a clickable form.

When I open it in it is fine. awheb I click edit PDF it changes it completely and moves everything on the sides around.

First image us how it should be. second is what happens when I click to edit

Please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/create-form.html and see if that works.

To add form fields to a PDF, select "Prepare Form". Do not use "Edit PDF". This option can be problematic.

If you want to add formatted content. Either add it in the original application, or Create it as a separate PDF and lay it over the template using the "Layer" tools.
