I am using CS6.  I reinstalled from Time Machine and then  from my original disk but nothing helps.

Hi NancyL,

Thank you for reaching out.

You have mentioned that you are using the CS6. It seems that you are using an old version of the Acrobat.

Would you mind sharing the Acrobat version you are using on the machine? To check the application version, use the steps provided in this link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html

Also, let us know the OS version on the machine.

As the application closing in 5 seconds after the launch, try the troubleshooting steps provided here https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html for Windows machine.

If you are on Mac, refer to this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html

Let us know if you need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Thank you for your reply.

I went to Adobe and downloaded their recent free Adobe Acrobat Reader and the problem was solved.

Time Machine cannot do anything for you, it's the opposite: your Acrobat needs an update to its latest version.

I don't know which Acrobat version was supplied with CS6 but latest Acrobat X version is 10.1.16, and latest Acrobat XI version is 11.0.23

You need to install from the original installer, not from Time Machine.

Thanks but that didn't help. The old, original version didn't work.
