When opening several pdfs it skips every other pdf

This has been a big headache....any suggestions.  I have to open several pdfs (in Adobe [professional]) to do entry verifications.  I know there is a limit but I am less than the limit each time I open and it is not working as it opens every other pdf in my list.  I have recently been upgraded to windows 11 (it was happening in 10 also since the end of Jan beginning of Feb).  I believe the University is in the cloud version as Adobe is an app.  My ability to do my job efficiently is not possible with this issue.  Any ideas suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Judith
