When suggesting to add a space, the space icon is appearing in a weird place. Is this normal?

I used a comment mode to suggest some changes in a document. Normally it only shows the little blue arrow, indicating where the change should be implemented. But if I only suggest a space, it shows a little blue space icon next to the arrow. The weird icon placement has confused the person to whom I suggested the changes. The space should be added between ... and To. Is this how it usually appears or am I doing something wrong?
