Where are my files saved on Android?

I like to read work related PDF on my Samsung Tablet and highlight or comment on stuff as I go.  The original files I keep on an SD card but when I edit one for the first time I get "This document is read-only, so changes cannot be saved. Would you like to create a local copy on your device to continue editing?"

 

That's fine, I get it. It usually creates a new file called filename(1), etc, and they just open fine as long I open the app first.  I have no idea where these files are being saved though and my memory is getting full.  I know they're not on the SD card because if I take out, I can still open the files.

 

Is there a way to specificy where to save these local copies?    I'm using Version 19.7.1.10708.

    What i normally would do is to plugin the mobile device to a personal desktop computer and use a file explorer that will allow you to see all directories or folders.

     

    Seems like your tablet with that Android version does not provide you with the ability explore your device folders via an more intuitive file browser. Sometimes is better to install  a 3rd party file browser in your Android device.

     

    However, you should still be able to browse for your files normally amd find them.

     

    Anyway, in Android you can goto settings and enable show recent files, show hidden files. In the Acrobat Reader mobile app there is an option in the file or document settings that says "Show internal storage"... see if that deconflicts what you are describing
