Where has the check box gone?!

I have just updated to Acrobat Pro CC 2009.008.20071 and now when I bring up a list of comments on a PDF design file there is no longer a check box to tick off changes as I go. I used to filter by unchecked comments to keep track of what fixes had been actioned. The check box is no longer there.

There are more approval options (completed/apprvoed/add check box etc) in the hamburger dropdown but that is surely not the process for checking off each edit?!

I have identified a temporary (but less good) workaround - (shift + k) which ticks the corner of the box but it doesn't then take you to the next comment as occurred previously, meaning that you need to click on the next one. This actually slows down workflow significantly in a graphic design setting where changes are actioned at speed and timed/. I have read in other forums that some designers used to press the space bar to tick and move to the next change to be even faster. @

I've been woking with it for a week now and one work-around I have discovered is to work in reverse.

Open PDF comments tab, select all of the comments, right click and select "Add Checkmark" this bring the checkbox back and just untick them off as you go. Silly but a temporary solution.

In the meantime vote to bring this back on the official Adobe Feature request website here:

Bring back checkboxes by default. Seriously. – Share your feedback on Acrobat DC

this is really really really a bad design decision. Hey Adobe, could you please study the use of your products before adding new (useless) gimmicks. jeeeeeeez

It's an awful decision.

I've just tried the new 'Import PDF comments' feature in InDesign (only works for PDFs created in InDesign 2019). And the checkbox option lives on in there!

Hopefully feature (which is actually a very good idea) will help people until Adobe reinstates the checkboxes in Acrobat.

damn, just spent double of the production time for a document, your remark came in just too late, thx for the tip!

Don't "consider" just bring it back1!! How the hell does this improve workflow by burying a commonly used function!?

Perhaps a checkbox that supports multiple clicks for each status? ie: 1x for accept, 2x for cancelled etc etc

Burying the checkbox is really hurting our workflow, by adding yet another unnecessary step (to hundreds and hundreds of edits/comments that require attention)—and confusing a number of infrequent users who will no longer use it, which is equally as dangerous.

It might sound silly, but in an environment where accuracy and editorial review is key, that check is a safety measure. And it was useful to those of us with untrained clients, as it was easily visible. We're exploring other proofing tools as a consequence.

Honestly, what on earth are you thinking Adobe, removing check boxes? I'd love to know who thought that was a UI improvement. What a stupid change this is.

The new filter is far worse than the old version too. Why have these changes been made when it worked perfectly before?

Agree with daveyheats this is such a counter-intuitive change. Please, please, PLEASE bring back the checkboxes and ability to filter comments by those that have been checked or are unchecked!

Clean and intuitive to use? Jesus really?!?!?!? Please bring the checkbox back and don't fix what isn't broken. Instead of focusing on making Acrobat a fast and stable application, which it certainly isn't, you're destroying basic functionality that is simple, intuitive and easy to use as is.

Please bring the checkbox back. I don't see how "modern" this is to support a set-back like that. Looks like Adobe isn't using its own softwares, any Acrobat user would know this was a VERY, VERY useful feature when reading comments and editing the master document. I use to go through all comments for a work-in-progress document and sometimes I keep some edits for the end, and can come back to it/them later simply by sorting the comments by the unchecked ones. Checking those boxes is mainly the only interaction I had to do and it was quick to do when the box was always visible. Now that it isn't, I'm going to have to charge back that extra time to whom? Adobe or the client? Who caused the time loss? Adobe, again.

Adobe, you know you could use a way to consult users before doing such changes, right?

a little off topic. unless i'm mistaken, it looks like the percentage magnification indication that used to be part of the UI is also missing in the latest update. I just started reviewing a batch of large-format pdf proofs from a fabricator and I used to be able to see the numerical percentage zoom in the UI frame so I can see how the images look at actual size, 150% and 200%. That's gone in this latest update and another blow to our productivity. Adobe please return to the previous version, or at least do NOT remove useful features from updated versions and then depend upon your paying customers to act as beta testers at a cost of their time and money.

Losing the checkbox is counter-intuitive, it does not speed up productivity, it has increased the time it takes when you work with this day in and day out. Did you guys not do your research before you rolled out this update?

Bring back the checkbox!!!!

I've noticed the same thing. So now i have to make 4 actions to approve a comment? Instead of just one click as it was in the old version. With a large page document with a lot of comments to check it is a very intuitive way to grow rsi.

It's Mondaymorning and already annoyed
