Question

whole page "jumps" when I flip back and forth between 2 files

I do a lot of proofing and when my designers send back corrections, I like to flip back and forth between the PDFs to see if the corrections were made or if anyting on the page shifts etc.... Just recently, when I am on one PDF tab and select another PDF tab, the whole page "jumps" (like it reloads the page each time) and it is really hard to tell if things are shifting on the page. I have checked all my setting to make sure each PDF is viewed the same way but I can't figure out why this is happening now.

Have you tried the Compare Files toolset within the Desktop version of Acrobat Pro?

  • Select the See All Tools hyperlink at the top of the Command Bar.
  • In the Share and Review section you'll see the Compare Files icon and hyperlink — Click on it.
  • This opens the Select Files to Share dialog box. Dial in the two PDF files you want and let Acrobat do the work, calling out the differences between the two PDF files.

At the bottom of the dialog box you will see a series of links. The Compare text only check box does what it says, and is especially handy for comparing contracts, proposals and such to see what may have changed from version to version. The Help hyperlink calls up a support web page that walks you through this process step-by-step. If you want to review that help page before you get to it in Acrobat Pro, you can use this link. The Settings hyperlink contains all the toggle switches to fine-tune what you comparebetween documents, and the Compare button, naturally, tells Acrobat to do the voodoo it do to compare between the two PDF files.

I think mastering Acrobat's Compare Files tools can make your life a lot easier.

Hope this helps,
