Why can't I Disable Generative AI via Settings or Regedit permanently?

I have been completely annoyed and upset because I cannot disable Generative AI in my Acrobat Pro, Continuous Release. 2026.002.21931, 64-bit. On a PC, Win11.

This ‘feature’ adds minimum :15 seconds each time I open Acrobat.

Once again, I open a PDF and it starts giving me AI’s two-cents in the right column. On a sidebar, does this mean Adobe HQ is ever aware of the document’s contents? I sure as heck hope not, but wouldn’t put it past companies to think that would be appropriate.

This is unacceptable, and unethical IMO. We should not have AI embedded into an SaaS subscription tool. Especially not until we understand the full implications of AI interference in our work flows and document access.

Why are people not upset about this?

This doesn’t disable Generative AI per se. But it may bypass it and make it easier for youto work with it.Select the View>Disable new Acrobat menu command.Click the Restart button in the popup window.Try working with the “old Acrobat” interface once again.This cures a number of little ills, including many of the hiccups you may be experiencing with Acrobat AI features by not using them. They’re still available anytime you want them by going back and using the View>Enable new Acrobat menu command. But if you don’t want ‘em or generally don’t need them, this may turn the trick for you.Hope this helps,Randy
