Why do pages that are inserted into a pdf appear in the wrong orientation?

Hello, Adobe Pro 11....When inserting pages from one pdf to another the inserted pages appear in portrait instead of landscape. Why is that? Al of the pages in the original and the second document are originally in landscape orientation.
