Why does adobe print text/dimensions on top of each other but when viewed as a PDF it looks fine

When saving a file from archicad as a PDF it works fine when viewing the plan (with text and dimensions) in Acrobat it looks fine everything is readable but once the file has been printed it printed text and dimensions on top of each other- this is not a printer issue as it prints fine straight from archicad.
