Why is there no PDF option in the printers menu?

I do not have a printer connected to  my computer. I am using Microsoft Office Document Image Writer because I have no option to print the document in PDF form. I know I had this option at one time. But, as of this last install, there is no longer an option to save as a pdf file. All I can see in the Printers and Faxes menu are Microsoft Options. How do I get a PDF Option. Is there a PDF Print driver that I need to install somewhere, a radio button that needs to be clicked? What can I do?

As was mentioned with regard to my other post, Reader does not provide a PDF printer. The Adobe PDF printer is part of Acrobat. Many programs (apparently Chrome being one and the plugin for MS OFFICE 2007 and later) offer PDF conversions. However, those are not from Adobe, but part of that application package. There are also several good PDF creation tools available on the web. Acrobat provides a lot more than just PDF creation, like forms. However, for PDF creation with Reader, you will either have to depend on the application capability, obtain a 3rd party creation tool, or buy Acrobat. If the Adobe PDF printer was provided with Reader, then Adobe would be cutting their throat for sales of Acrobat -- so don't expect such an option.

It sounds like you are using Reader, not Acrobat. There is not PDF printer that comes with Reader.

It is Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 (Free Download from Adobe website). And, I have MS Office Small Business 2003. Also, if I am using Google Chrome and want to save a copy of something, it gives me the option to save as a PDF Document. But, when I use my IE Browser, I don't get that option. Why? And, what can I do to fix it?

What is the Version of Acrobat, you are using ? Could you also confirm your office Version ? One of first thing to suggest would be repair the Acrobat installation.

Deepak Chauhan,

You may want to read Bill@VT'sanswer. He says that Reader doesn't have a PDF Printer. But, that doesn't sound right. Because if I'm using Google's Chrome Browser, I have the option to save as a pdf document.  I have Adobe Reader X (Free download of the latest -10.1.3 version from the Adobe website). And, sometimes (especially where clarity is very, verry, verrry important) I save in pdf format. Plus, I like the fact that I can type notes into it and save. Also, I have MS Office Small Business 2003. Additionally, although a bit savy in installation procedures, if you are going to tell me a custom version of installation, be specific... But, I do want to thank you for your help, Rob
