Why so hard to make a link in Acrobat?

Wow, almost 30 minutes of research and now having to post on a forum just to learn how to create a text link on a pdf.  Only info I can find about creating a link is to create a rectangle that I guess is a link.  Even though you can't see it.  WTF???!!?!?!  I have some text.  www.mywebsite.com.  Whyyyyy can't I just select the text and make it a link?  Anyone can show me any documentation anywhere that details this?  Thanks.

Perhaps you should be looking in the Acrobat Documentation first. The forums are not a user manual on how to access the basic tools in Acrobat.

I did, hence the question here.  It's been answered though here.  Adobe doesn't have this basic functionality and one has to use a different application and then create a pdf of that in order to create basic links.  I used word and did that.  So my issue is resolved.  Still makes no sense to me though. Thanks for your reply.

I opened a Word doc and just by typing www in front of whatever it automatically creates a link.  Adobe, you might want to think about adding this incredibly complex futuristic feature.  Thank goodness Microsoft was able to solve this ability. I'm sorry, but this is pretty lame Adobe.  Truly.  It looks like Word has a feature where it will create a pdf of my word doc.  It will be interesting if I have to use Word to create a pdf that has normal text links.  Sad really.

I appreciate the reply, but I guess I'm looking for the standard style link.  blue underlined words like your reply above.  Putting an invisible box around some text makes no sense to me.  I want the person who opens the pdf to actually see regular links.  Not a bunch of text with boxes around it.  It doesn't even look obvious that it's a link unless you hover over it.  I don't understand why Adobe would decide to add link differently than every single company ever.

Create the link in the source document before convert it to PDF.
