Why when I add text does it come out as hieroglyphics

Question

Recently each try to edit a PDF and add text, it comes out in symbols. I have not changed any settings, but my patience is running short as I cannot complete my work.

Thank you for your reply.The situation was I have been using this for some time did not change anyfont so could not even answer your question because everything wasdefaulted from when I installed it originally. However I did find that if Iuninstalled and reinstalled the program it worked just fine.

You haven't provided any information as to OS, version of Acrobat, font being used, how the PDF file was originally made, etc. You also haven't indicated whether the font used by the text you are trying to edit is actually installed on your system (text editing in a PDF file requires the font of such text to be installed on your system)! It would also help if you posted a sample of a PDF file that offends, so to speak.
