Can i update this version of acrobat?

not beyond version 8.

anything newer (eg, 9, x, xi, dc) would be an upgrade and adobe doesn't no longer offers upgrades for acrobat versions more than 2 version out-of-date.

you would need to purchase or subscribe to dc, Software & Services or Plans and pricing | Adobe Acrobat DC
