Question

Why won't Acrobat PDFMaker allow me to embed flash within PowerPoint?

I have been searching high and low for an answer and just can't find anything that gives me the right answer...?

I am getting this error when I am trying to Embed Flash within PowerPoint.

I have checked all browsers I have installed to make sure Flash is Enabled and as far as I can see it is.

I have found this where it explains how to do it but I can't even get to that stage once I click the button..?

Add audio, video, and interactive objects to PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

I was wondering if there is a way I could resolve this issue?

That's a really good idea, I'd say.

The position of video in PDF is very uncertain, since it relies on Flash, and there is no roadmap from Adobe showing us the future for movies in Acrobat. But for today, I would recommend doing exactly what you say. Be sure the client is aware of the significant limitations e.g. videos in PDF won't work in the default PDF viewer on Windows and Mac, in most browsers, and on any mobile device.

Ok, so I guess this means best practice for anything like this going forward would be to just use text/button links to external web page links..? Just to be safe.

Well, Flash has only a few months before it is switched off for some people, so it doesn't really seem worth pursuing. The official switch off date is end of 2020 but for many people, depending on their browser, it will be much sooner.

Anyway... have you specifically tested Flash in Internet Explorer? Not other browsers.

Thanks for the reply. That is what i thought but needed some clarity for a client specific job.

I have tested in IE and yes Flash is working fine. I run Chrome/FF/Edge normally and have IE10 as well.

My client produces PP presentations and occasionally export to PDF, and wanted to know how to embed a video link that would work within PDF. I have suggested going forward that they produce the PDF and I add the video link via Acrobat afterwards. Is this how you would suggest doing something like this now..?

Thanks
