Question

Win 10 how to make Adobe X Pro DEFAULT

Am so incredibly frustrated and stressed!!!

HOURS of trying to get the default changed.  I even UNINSTALLED DC  (Adobe extortion), rebooted and there is NOTHING I can do to open .pdfs with the program I PAID for.

There is NO option to "always open with".

There's a blank white icon with the files.

I finally got Acrobat X to show up when I click on the file, but it still shows DC CRAP despite the uninstall.
There is NO directory for DC in Program Files.

I tried in Win settings to associate with pdfs, but X is not an option.

Euthanasia!

Acrobat X is an old and unsupported version, and is not officially compatible with any current OS, so problems are to be expected.
To increase the chances of it working properly make sure you have all updates installed (up to 10.1.16) and run it in Compatibility Mode with an earlier OS, like Windows 7.

Updates are available here:
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/10.x/

You must use a dedicated FTP client to open the link, it won't work in most browsers.

If you're still seeing Acrobat DC stuff, run this tool to get rid of it entirely:
