won't let me print document 24x36 on my wide format printer, only 8 1/2 x 11

When I go to print to my wide format printer, the document shows 24 x 36, I select the printer, and the D24x36, but it shows a print size of 8 1/2 x 11 highlighted over the 24 x 36 background.  I have done this thousands of times and never had this happen.  I reinstalled Adobe - same result.  I have not made changes to the printer, the preferences and advanced settings are all the same.  Any suggestions?
