WORD and pdf

All of a sudden my WORD documents are saving as a pdf and when I try to open them, I have to physicially open with WORD. Seems like everything is saving as a pdf that shouldn't be. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I also have my own ADOBE and also for my work as well which I work remotely. Thank you.
