Word to PDF conversion is adding numbered subscripts to all endnote superscripts - HELP

With all my Word documents I am converting to PDF inside word, all the endnotes have this extra number and "f" in front of them. How is this happening? It's so small it looks like an extra period. I don't want to have to manually go through these reports to find every subscript and delete it. How can this be solved?
