Writing PDFs with Vectorworks

When writing a PDF with Vectorworks (version 2015+) the file often can't be printed by clients. The only fix is to save the file in version 2014 and write the PDF then. Vectorworks support says it is because of the adobe version it is written in (2015 uses 1.7 while 2014 uses 1.4). Apparently transparencys cause the problem. The file size doesn't have any effect. How do you fix it? Please note that it is not possible to select the adobe version for printing manually.

I can send PDF files if necessary.

Thanks.

Assuming that Vectorworks is creating the PDF file, it would make sense for them to fix whatever they are doing in creating the PDF file that is problematic.

If you post a PDF file that exhibits this problem, maybe we can provide some ammunition for you to provide to Vectorworks such that they can generate proper PDF.

Strange, because transparency exists in PDF 1.4, and didn't change even in 1.7.

You can change a file's PDF Version in Acrobat by going to File - Save As - Optimized PDF and then change the Make Compatible With option.
