Here's how to do a REAL Windows update
Click the START window pane in the lower left corner
Click SETTINGS at the upper right of the pop up
Click WINDOWS UPDATE at the bottom of the left column
Click the blue CHECK FOR UPDATES at the upper right

For all other programs go to the website for that program to check for an update
