    First:

Design skills: anything you know bout colors, grids, composition , typography and images will help

I will start with some reading on composition and the grid design system

The designer's guide to grid theory | Web design | Creative Bloq

I will use Photoshop for images.

Indesign for the layout and Illustrator for design and logo.

While working on the initial design talk to the printer and ask for pre set - of colors and other things you will need to adjust before sending it.

Like: Bleeds, Trapping, Color space and Resolution.

    Sketch your design.

Scan it or use image in Photoshop.

Create any graphics in Illustrator and do the layout in Indesign.

    Hope this helps!!

    Wow... and open ended question.

What format are you familiar with--- Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, etc???

If all these plus others are new to you then search the Adobe TV to learn what best fits your vision for this design.

We are here to help but selecting the media or application is a multi- question with in itself. There are many ways to approach a design and once you know what works best for you and your skills we are here to help....
