Have you thought about forming a deaf group in Adobe company dedicated to deaf designers?

This is amazing. So glad I stumbled on this.

We did attempt to start a group in Rochester, NY called Deaf Art Pub. I also tried centralizing all Deaf/hoh art/design majors at Rochester Institute of Technology in one Facebook page. It didn't seem Facebook was a successful way to collect us all in one place. Am always open to trying again!

Deaf Art Pub (DAP) met up several times and it was great. I was hoping that group could act as mentors for those aspiring students at RIT. Now, with the rise of #deafinmedia, this is more needed than ever.

Please do let me know if you are still interested and we can definitely make a push for this to happen!

I understand. When you are, send me a private message. I have a good following on a number of social media and I can get the link into the hands of a lot of people at Adobe.

Chuck Uebele can understand how it feel, I did experienced that too. It is tough for having three different things happening at the same time. We need a magically Chameleons’ eyes. Ha. Unless there is a deaf person teaching in ASL. It will be great and in class will have a different teaching method than normal class lecture suitable for hearing environment. .

Pariah Burke Design Community (asl user) is still new. I am still trying to get more deaf designers to be actively involved in the group. I don’t want to do all of the vlogs and posts for the group and let others do it too.  :/  I still finding a way on how to make them to participate more in the group.  I don’t know if it is ready to go public about this group.

nothingdark​ What a great idea to have a Facebook group for ASL designers! Where is it? I want to mention it in my social media feeds and my design e-newsletters to help spread the word.

Interesting idea. At an Adobe Max that I was TAing, one person there was deaf. He had a signer to help him with what the speaker was saying, but he was having a horrible time, as the pace was so fast that he couldn't watch what was going on on the main screen, his own screen, and the signer at the same time. I was trying to help him get caught up, but it was a losing battle.

What a thought-provoking question. I'm not an Adobe employee, but I've spent plenty of time in Adobe offices around North America. I know Adobe takes very seriously the idea of inclusion for all. I'm curious if there is such a group, and, if not, whether there's a need for one. I'm going to run this up the flag pole and ask some Adobe employees to have a look.
