I'd like to teach simple layout design to elementary school students (grade 3-5).

Hello All,

I'm a proud Adobe products user. I was a graphic designer for 20 years, but now I'm an elementary school teacher. I know that the programs here are rather sophisticated, but I'd like to whet my students' whistles in a school newspaper project that I'm working on.

My question is whether there is a program or resource that might facilitate this endeavor.

Any input is appreciated; I get that this is probably unconventional.

Thanks in advance!

Spark Page and Post are also a great place to start teaching basic layout concepts in a very fun way... you can use the Newsletter layout and premixed designs to reverse engineer while approaching concepts in greater detail... fonts, colors, grids etc.

The best part of this is it is free for educational purposes:

    Adobe Spark for Education

Thank you all who replied.  To this point I've used InDesign.  I gave my kiddos access by letting them compose layouts on the iPad app, Adobe Comp, and then would set up the layouts in the program myself.

I think that Spark might be the best next step because it seems really easy to do, allows for easy access to photos and is a good entrance ramp to social media knowledge.

    Once again thanks all!

For making Newspaper kind of the designs, you can prefer for INDESIGN.

Photoshop Elements as a way to start?

But if you're looking more toward actual print layout, yes, InDesign is a better place to start.

Indesign or Photoshop can do the basic layouts... if you want to actually make this newspaper instead of just design it then Acrobat has some value
