I do wish that Adobe would develop a spreadsheet app with the power, flexibility and design possibilities similar to InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.....

Apples and aligators. Adobe makes design tools; not spreadsheets.

Nothing Adobe could make would out-perform the power of Microsoft Excel which already corners the worldwide spreadsheet market.

Google Sheets is a competing spreadsheet application included as part of the free, web-based Google Docs Editors suite offered by Google. Google Sheets is available as a web application; a mobile app for: Android, iOS, and as a desktop application on Google's ChromeOS. The app is compatible with Microsoft Excel file formats.

The point of Adobe making design tools is exactly what I mean.

To be able to draw new sheets in threaded “Spreadsheet boxes” and “Cell boxes”, using layers for calculations/functions/data as well as text/graphic assets, writing functions and formulas in native language, using any graphics assets for conditional formatting and diagrams, place files in InDesign with full compatibility, advanced text formatting in Text Boxes nested with “Spreadsheet boxes”, tear-away panels.

    Just some initial thoughts....

Adobe product engineers don't read these user-to-user discussions.

If you wish to submit a feature request to the InDesign Team, use the link below.  If your idea is viable & you plead a convincing case for it, they might consider it for a future or beta release.
