I have heard that the infection is now on its way out recently so I wouldn’t worry about it so much now.

If not one thing, now another. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Federal health officials are investigating a multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to fresh jalapeño peppers from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors. The outbreak has sickened at least 345 people across 27 U.S. states, leading to 36 hospitalizations, no reported deaths. Chains like Chipotle Mexican Grill and QDOBA stopped serving the affected peppers after being notified.

Not being clean (people or equipment) at any part of the process from field to consumer is a big problem

I threw caution to the wind and bought a big locally grown mixed veggie platter with dip.

If you believe the CDC, cyclospora is linked to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms. But Michiganders are having the worst outbreak and local public health officials there aren’t certain exactly where it’s coming from.

We’re avoiding all Taylor Farms products. I rarely buy bagged salads anyway.

Cyclospora outbreak spreads to 6 more states:

Cyclospora Busting Blender Gazpacho (cold soup):

Roasted onion, garlic & green peppers, canned chilis & canned tomatoes. I also added one scrubbed & peeled hothouse cucumber, chopped & seeded. It’s a refreshing substitute for summer salad.

I stopped buying bagged salads after finding one roo many bugs and other foreign objects. It really doesn’t take all that long to tear or cut and wash the lettuce myself…
