JWST (James Webb Telescope) First Image Coming TODAY!

LATE BREAKING NEWS:  Nasa is releasing the first photo TODAY, Monday July 11, 2022.  President Joe Biden is presenting it at a White House briefing scheduled for 5:00 PM (Eastern Time), 9:00 PM (GMT).

As a teaser, early images captured during calibration & testing routines.  The Spitzer space telescope was good but nothing like this.

    Wow!!!! Truly amazing. When I was 12 I wanted to be an astronaut and fly to Mars haha. I wrote a letter to NASA and they sent me a photo of the surface of Mars. I still absolutely love this stuff. Just mind-boggling. Here's a hypothetical lava planet I painted:

    Oo exciting and cool. Thanks for sharing! But why are there dark spots on the stars? I'm pretty sure those aren't black holes.

    The early photos had black spot artifacts caused by dithering.  The telescope moved slightly between exposures.  The photos released today have no such artifacts.
