If you can't hire a professional photographer and stylist, start with good equipment & ample external light sources. Do not use flash.  Keep the background neutral and free of distracting elements.

Good photos begin with proper lighting, good composition & framing.  Camera should be firmly mounted to a stable tripod to prevent unwanted camera shake.  I personally prefer overhead angles but you may need to experiment.  A camera remote is also helpful.  You might want to tether your camera to a laptop/desktop computer to get an idea of what each shot looks like on a large screen before you take it.

If jewelry is shiny, you'll need to guard against unwanted reflections with polarizing lens filters.  The goal is to capture realistic photos with natural colors and highest possible detail so customers can see exactly what they're paying for.

If you do the photo shoot right, post-editing in Photoshop or Lightroom should be minimal.

Ah, absolutely as @Nancy OShea says.

I hadn't appreciated that you were still to take the photographs.

What may also help is to use focus stacking as it is called.

This lets you take a series of images where different parts of small jewllery are in focus,

import them into Photoshop and then create one image that has all parts of it in focus.

    Best regards, Euan.
