Automated driving systems are wonderful in theory but numerous complaints and accidents stemming from malfunctioning self-driving & auto-breaking vehicles have been filed with NHTSA.  And there have been multiple reports of passengers stranded in unsafe locations by immobilized self-driving Ubers.

I have also read a 'few' reports of being being led astray by GPS in cars with wrong information

We rarely use the GPS in our car and truck... the one in the car is built in and has never been updated... the one in my truck is portable and I bring it in the house about once a year to do an update by connecting it to my computer and going to the GPS web site (I even had to buy an 8Gig micro SD card to go in the GPS due to the size of the updates)

We don't have onboard GPS in our cars.  We use iPhone/iPad's GPS.  But I don't always agree with the route it suggests.  😞

60+ years ago, Walt Disney envisioned that cars and people would move on tracks & conveyor belts like bottles on an assembly line.  Fast forward to today and we're still waiting for a bullet-train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
