Win10 + MS Office 2007 = Odd Problem

Nothing to do with Adobe, so posting in Lounge

I have Win10 Pro 64bit and MS Office 2007 for word processing and spreadsheet

Sometime in the past couple of months Office has lost the ability to select part of a document and print that selection... I can still print an entire document, be that a Word file or an Excel file

I'm sure the problem is due to a Win10 update, and I haven't found any help information at Microsoft... if someone knows a solution I will be glad to read it... otherwise, just noting this oddity of an old program and new operating system

It would be remiss not to mention that support for Microsoft Office 2007 ended in 2017 and no longer gets security updates. You are leaving your system vulnerable to hackers.

Click the "For Home" tab if you are buying Microsoft 365 ® (new name, btw)  for home. I subscribe because I have it on iMac, MacBook, iPad, and Windows, but if you only want it for one machine you can get a one-time purchase for only $150 and use it safely until it reaches EOL.

I clicked the link, it says $69.99 per year for a subscription

The one time purchase is $249.99 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/get-started-with-office-2021

Since I have printing a selection working I will stay where I am for now

The $149.99 version says "home & student" so I'm not sure I qualify https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products

LibreOffice is a great alternative to this expensive software. You can get it for free but they do appreciate donations. 🙂

    I have the same set-up, Win10 (64-bit) version 21H1 and MS Office 2007.

Can you "print" selection to Adobe PDF?

You might try updating print drivers from the manufacturer's site.

Yes, printing a selection to a PDF works

I'll check the Canon site for a newer driver

Hmm... I've found "a" solution (may not be "the" solution)

I have a color inkjet printer, and if I check the "grayscale printing" box a selection prints

I still think a Win10 update changed something, but at least now I know how to print a selection
