Question

Stop Copy of Signed Document being sent to Signee

When Sending a document to be completed electronically if password protected the client uses a password to open this and sign. They are then receiving a copy of the signed document however this version is not being protected with a password and is automated. If i do not wish for the signee to receive a copy of the agreement afterwards (for security reasons). How do I switch this functionality off?

Alternatively if not available, how do i ensure the signed copy sent to them will be password protected when not being issued by me but instead Adobe itself?

    Hi GabsJM19,

    Thank you for reaching out.

We have checked that you have an Acrobat Sign individual service plan. By default, the settings are configured to send a signed copy to the signer. Unfortunately, the option to disable this feature is not available with your current plan. However, you can assign a password to the completed document.

When sending the document, after you upload the file, navigate to the Agreement settings and select "Password." Enter a password of your choice, making sure it is different from the one you assign to the signers. This password will automatically be applied to the final document once all signers have completed their signatures. For more information, please refer to the instructions here: Add a password to protect viewing of the PDF.

    Thanks,

    Hi Meenakshi,

Thank you for the clarification. Just to confirm and if I add a password under the Agreement settings, will the automatically sent signed copy that the signer receives also be protected with that password?

The main concern is preventing an unsecured signed document from being accessible via email, so I just want to make sure the final completed PDF sent by Adobe will require the password to open.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mick Judo,

The password option is designed specifically to protect sensitive content in the completed document. Once the document has been completed and signed by all parties, the password will automatically be added to the final version. As a result, anyone who receives the completed, signed copy will need the password to open it.

To confirm, the final completed PDF sent by Adobe will require a password for access. Recipients can only open the PDF if you share the password with them.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
