Thanks for the help. If I understand correctly, I need to use the Terminal app to set this key. But here's what I'm getting :

Last login: Thu Jun 18 12:20:46 on console

newmc001@MBP-de-NEW ~ % sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :DC dict" /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :DC:FeatureLockdown dict" /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :DC:FeatureLockdown:bEnableTrialistLaunchCard bool false" /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist

Set: Entry, ":DC:FeatureLockdown:bEnableTrialistLaunchCard", Does Not Exist

This is a very annoying problem, and it's really getting in the way of my work. Wouldn't it be possible to install an older version of Adobe Acrobat?

Regards,

@JeromeA_77 - thanks for keeping us updated.

Looks like the list doesnt have the entry available and it may need to be created. Will check with engineering and keep you updated.

Thanks for your assistance and patience.

Merci pour votre réponse rapide.

Le bug apparait après quelques secondes d’utilisation. Le problème est apparu il y a quelques jours avant les mises à jour de l’App et du OS.

Version OS : 26.5.1 (25F80)

Version App : last update

@JeromeA_77  our engineering team is working on it and shared the feature lockdown key as below.

Could you please try to apply this Key
bEnableTrialistLaunchCard to false under DC/FeatureLockdown/

in
/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Reader.plist

and Restart app once applied and check if the freeze is resolved.

Let us know the outcome.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Would you mind sharing more details about the issue?

  1. Have you started experiencing this issue recently after the update or was it occurring earlier as well?

  2. What is the workflow/steps you are taking when the app freezes with a black screen? A short video recording of the steps and the issue as they occur would be very helpful.

  3. What is the version of the Acrobat App and the OS you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version  26.001.21662 Planned update, Jun 09, 2026 Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

  4. Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

You may also try turning off protected mode (Testing only). Go to Preferences (Ctrl,Cmd+K) > Security Enhanced  > Turn off ‘Protected mode at startup’ and disable Protected View > Click OK and reboot the application once and check.
Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid any security risks.

Let us know how it goes.
