We are looking to update our adobe acrobat software. We have a variety of standard and pro from version 9. In that version we can all print .dwg's (autocad drawings) to .pdf. However Adobe's website indicates that Pro is the only version that can "Create technical PDF's in Microsoft Project, Visio, or Autodesk AutoCAD". Does this mean that Standard cannot print an autocad file to .pdf at all, or is a technical .pdf something special?

The information you are reading about refers to direct PDF creation from such applications via an Acrobat PDFMaker plug-in. The “standard” version continues to allow PDF creation by printing to the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance. Note though, that “printing to PDF” results in PDF files in which any transparency in the original document is flattened.
