Electronic label to stick on pdf files

Today I print an invoice, then fill in a label with vendor number, invoice number etc by pen, sticking the label to the invoice, and then scan to email the invoice to our book keeper for handling the payment. How is it possible to create some sort of "form" to fill in on screen and stick to my pdf invoice without printing? As said, the information on the sticker changes, therefor it is not just a picture to paste in.

I have Adobe Pro, but no inDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator.

Hi Susanne,

Detailed instructions for your exact dynamic stamp will be hard to come by, but this article provides pretty detailed instructions on creating a dynamic stamp-

https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/dynamic_stamp_secrets

A detailed book on custom stamps for Acrobat and PDF, "All About PDF Stamps in Acrobat and Paperless Workflows" provides pretty good detail too-

All About PDF Stamps In Acrobat® & Paperless Workflows: Thom Parker: 9780985614706: Amazon.com: Books

Now for your specific situation you probably want to have a nice user interface for entering all the 4 fields of data at once when you use the stamp in Acrobat.  That requires developing a custom dialog, which is a whole different topic but one that goes really well with complex dynamic stamps.  Developing custom dialogs is definitely on the advanced side of Acrobat JavaScript and will not be an easy task for someone who is new to scripting or programming. Creating the stamp you describe is not a task that fits into a question and answer forum setting. It is a complete project.  What people here can best help you with is issues with code that you write after you have studied and tested out some things.

Edit- The link to Joel's dialog creator above should be very helpful for developing your dialog after you have created your stamp.  Very handy Joel!!

Finally, not sure where you got the stamp downloads you mentioned, but very little in Acrobat JavaScript Acrobat has changed in many years so it would be odd that scripts for a stamp only worked in another version of Acrobat.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Hi Susannevj,

I second the idea for a custom dynamic stamp to apply to your invoices.  If you have not seen anything about using stamps in Acrobat here is a video on many ways stamps can be used, including one for invoices-

Hope this helps,

You can make stmps with any office program or eve a text editor.

Iam surprised you do not already have a rubber stamp for that step.

This sounds like the perfect scenario for a custom-made dynamic stamp.

I agree, I can see that there is a lot of information on this subject - but it is also very confusing. I have finally downloaded some stamps for modifying purpose - turning out, it was meant for another version of Adobe. Tried a bit of java - no success, maybe because this is also new to me. Now I'm back at the beginning.

I will keep searching, but any help and guidance will be much appreciated. As said, I'm new, så I'm looking for a detailed procedure on how to do this.

I use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Win 7.

My dynamic stamp must prompt the user for 4 fields to fill in.

It must contain fixed text, such as my company name, and also the stamp must find the user's email address to add somewhere on stample.
