I want to perform OCR on a Russian (Cyrillic) based pdf using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Even though I sent properties->language->russian but I still don't get a translation to the proper text. How do you make this work?

Sorry for the issue you are facing. Text output depends on various reasons like image quality, fonts and colors, output may be bad if there is some problem with these properties. Can you please share a sample document where you are facing this issue. you can use https://cloud.acrobat.com/send to share the file.

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the files with us. After analysis we found that the files were already OCRed via some other tool or were created this way. If you have the non-OCRed version of these files please share them, otherwise you can follow this workaround for Acrobat Pro DC OCR functionality to meet your requirements:

1) Open the PDF files in Acrobat

2) In Right Hand Tool Pane, search and open the Export PDF tool and export the PDF files as jpg Images using default options.

3) In this way we will get rid of all previous faulty OCR text on it and can start a fresh OCR.

4) Close the PDF files.

5) Select all the exported images and drag them to Acrobat Pro DC.

6) A dialog saying combine all images to single file will appear. Click OK.

8) Go to Enhance Scans > Recognize text > Set Russian language & Desired Settings > Run OCR

PS: Please share the Acrobat Pro DC version being used.
