is this outdated free version of flash legal?

Community Beginner ,
Aug 07, 2017 Aug 07, 2017

this video mentioned that you can download a old version of macromedia flash for free that is LEGAL. I wanted to make sure because I know that pirated versions of software are a big problem and I wanted to make sure that this was approved by adobe (since they bought out macromedia). In the video he states that its legal but I want to make sure adobe knows about this. it seemed like it might be legal since its outdated but it is still owned by adobe and I didn't see anything so far saying that it was approved by adobe. here is the link to the video HOW TO DOWNLOAD FLASH FOR FREE! (100% SAFE) - YouTube . thank you for reading and please respond soon

PS: I am sorry if someone already asked this and I'm repeating it. I am new to the forums and couldn't find anything.

Apologize if I did not make it clear. The link is not legal, and we advise you to refrain from using it.

Adobe Animate CC is available through Creative Cloud and through licensed Adobe vendors.

How to buy

Flash Pro CC and versions previous to it are no longer sold or supported by Adobe.

Thanks,

Preran

This doesn't look legal to me at all. I will forward this to our anti-piracy team for their observations.

Thanks,

Preran

What you are posting appears to be of an illegal infringement, of Adobe, and its owner's illegal claim over the substrate inventions and basic usages of the tools found in Adobe's so-called "property" software. What you are saying is that Adobe has a legal infringement into what the Honorable Public Person owns, which is the right to make writing, reading, drawing, and animating tools without any restriction on the basic concept or execution of these in Computer-program tools.

Ok, just saying. I don't know if it's legal or not. You can contact me on Newgrounds, X, Scratch, or Reddit. I am only a game dev who has a bad day every day trying to make a programming language.

Also, this version is very old and unlikely to be supported by the latest OS versions and hardware.

I do not see any problem with someone running an old version of Macromedia as long as it is not a pirated version. I am not sure what is the last version of Flash that could be run on an old system. Perhaps an early Adobe version would run on your machine?

I think the last Macromedia version I had was version MX but I do not have the CD any more. Hope you can find someone to give you one if an Adobe version cannot run on that machine.

Now I have another question - would the flash player run such an old version of an swf file?

I was dumb back then.

Yes I made that reply.
Sure, Flash CS4 and higher is still legal, but the cost is that it's pretty buggy, especially under other systems that aren't Windows or Mac.

UPDATE

Although Macromedia is legal, I will not be aiding with these types of posts. Instead, I'll help with overall issues (i.e. Flash being laggy).

However, please be mindful of these forums. This is not the place to ask such a question about installing Macromedia.

Excuse me, but it is not true that Flash, by Macromedia and later by Adobe, has never been free, its users paid for its licence, I have been a Flash User since 1998.

It's true that you can open your old .fla files with Adobe Animate, It goes fine with the interrelations and symbols, but I just know that Animate exists and it's been a long time since I didn't use ActionScript, so I've forgotten a lot and I can't reach that level now... All the video courses are in English and my speech is in Spanish.

But, Just be sure that Flash was never free, I have worked for Adobe Latam, and member of the official Macromedia groups first, and then Adobe.

it's not clear what you're trying to say, but animate/flash ide has never been free.

the flash player was always free, but that's irrelevant other than causing confusion.

The Flash Player was always free to do possible running object SWF files in all browsers. Or to create object .EXE files for M.Windows or .DMG Apple Mac. Example, .exe and .dmg as autorun executable custom interactive application.
The Adobe Flash application to create source FLA files wasn't free.

Macromedia was the company that started with Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, and another use in multimedia, and then Adobe preexisting to edit graphic pieces Photoshop, Illustrator, more, they came together in current Adobe 🙂
Something beautiful Design History 😉

I correct= to create object .EXE and .dmg files was Application Flash, no Flash Player.

The user had said "to open fla", to open and edit .fla only was possible by App Flash and later by Animate. There are not confusion 😉
