Question

Importing Arabic captions in Captivate 9

I am trying to import Arabic text captions into a Captivate 9 project, and according to the translator, the spacing is incorrect because the letters are not connected, and the text is imported left to right rather than right to left. As this is an existing project and creating a new one is not an option (so I can't turn on indic composer, as that says "for newly-created projects only",) is there any way to correctly import the Arabic text?

This issue has been reported several times in the past, but I have seen no solutions offered.

I don't have any solution, but my limited test so far confirms your conclusions that checking Indic composer in Captivate Preferences will allow you to paste Arabic properly in a caption slide, however it will not be of any use if the project has been created before then.

I tried a number of tricks but nothing worked. However, I was able to paste text through a small utility application that was created specifically to insert Arabic in non-Arabic supporting applications. The scenario goes like this, I copied Arabic text from an Arabic web page, paste it in arPIX (utility application), then copied from arPIX to Adobe Captivate and the result was acceptable.

One thing though, with above long workflow, if you decided to change an Arabic word here or there, you will have copy from an original source into arPIX then into Captivate once again, a bit long process.
