Hello, Been running CS3 on my laptop for some while. I updated my windows 10 and now PS requires an activation code. I have tried chatline and told CS3 is too old and they cant or won't help. Wow. As I use the programme spasmodically the suggestion to spend US$10.00 per month seems rather a waste of money. All I want to do is use the programme I paid good money for. Looking at the program it has the serial number in it the activation code etc visable. I note that this question has been asked by others before with no answer so I am not sure whether the forum knows the answer or like chatline.
Hi Richard,
If the activation on your old laptop is still in place, even though not in use, then this can prevent you from installing on another machine. This happens a lot and clearly you can't fix it yourself by deactivating the old machine, so use the link below, go down to the chat applet at the bottom and you'll be able to talk live to an Adobe tech. Just tell them you have had a system failure and need your old machine deactivating on their system. They do this a lot and afterwards with any

I don't understand this Richard. To use CS3 you need a serial number and will need to activate Photoshop from within the program. As far as I'm aware there is no activation code so are you getting a message telling you that one is necessary? If your CS3 was upgraded from CS2 then you will require the CS2 serial as well to establish you are qualified to use the upgrade. Could you post further information about the messages you are receiving? The exact wording can sometimes be critical. CS3 is nine years old and was never designed or tested with Windows 8 let alone Windows 10. Unfortunately sometimes when you update your OS you are going to have to upgrade software as well and this may be the source of your problem. Having said that CS3 is run by others on Windows 10 but this can be fiddly to get to work.

Below are the messages I get As you can see from the last one there is an activation code already.
My last laptop Toshiba did give up the ghost without warning and consequently I did not deactivate. I bought this in Dubai when I lived there and think it was either 2008 or 09. However as far as I can remember in the past after activation it would signal me to activate and when I tried it would confirm it was already activated.
Very frustrating as I have just joined the local Hermanus photographic society and wouldn’t you know it the tools you want pack in.
Windows 10 is okay but DOS was even better.
Cheers Richard.

Hi Terri
Speaking on SKYPE Adobe help line I am advised I can purchase CS6 from the
centre manager in India by sending cash via Western Union. Being a
thoughtful chap I thought I would check with you to see if this is a scam
AKASH TYAGI. Is the resale managers name.
Can you please advise.
Cheers, have a great day

Hi Richard,
Afraid I cannot really help you with this. I don't work for Adobe so cannot check if the person you mentioned is an actual employee or not. I have never heard of the company accepting Western Union payments, although some other software companies do. I looked on the Adobe India website and its true they sell CS6 in Ruppees, but the accepted payment options are Mastercard and Visa
Adobe Store - Adobe Photoshop CS6

Therefore, I would be wary as payment by Western Union suggests a payment directly to him not to Adobe. Its possible he owns a genuine version of CS6 and just wants to sell it, but it seems a little odd. Even if you were to buy it the procedure for changing ownership is quite involved-you both have to fill out forms and submit them to Adobe who check the details. I understand you also need to submit photo-id to prove who you are. The procedure takes 4-5 weeks to complete and then they will allow you to register the product in your name. If the resale manager in India is prepared to go through all that then its probably genuine, but working with someone thousands of miles away is always going to involve some risk. You could try using the shopping cart above. I have no idea whether they will sell you a copy outside of India but at least you will know its genuine.
To be honest though CS6 is a dead product now, over five years old and not subject to development. If you buy it you have no guarantee that it will work with the next major upgrade to your operating system. People often say that's ok as they won't be upgrading , but forget that if they buy a new computer it comes with the latest OS and then are stuck. Creative Cloud is £8.75 a month for Photoshop and Lightroom and much better than CS6. The link above looks to me to be for the basic edition of Photoshop CS6, the Extended addition supports 3D and a few other things. For what its worth the price quoted is about £677 for a full version ie not the upgrade from CS5. Photoshop CS6 Extended will be about £1000. This in my view is ridiculously expensive when the monthly subscription for something far newer is £8.75 as it will take 77 months or 6.5 years of subscription for the purchase to be less expensive.

Thanks Terri,
The reason I asked is that the ADOBE help line on skype gave me all this info. This chap in India has a certificate from Adobe as a reseller. He’s selling for around US$200.00 whereas CC is US$10 per month therefore 20 months. As I am retired I have to look after the pennies.
If it is a scam it should be stopped.
Thanks Terri for all your help.
Kind Regards Richard

Thanks John I thought it too good to be true. These people must be on the forum and see questions and then respond. I received email advising that ADOBE would contact me via skype. See below.
