I just downloaded a free trial of Lightroom - which literally took over an hour to download because of failures, updates, error codes, etc. Now I finally have it up and running, pick out the first photo I'm going to edit, click on "develop" and it says "Develop module is disabled - please purchase a membership" Seriously?!
Brianap546756 I am sorry that you have not had the opportunity to evaluate Lightroom. Have you implemented the steps listed in Lightroom 5.5 "Develop module is disabled. Please renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module" ?

Have you had the trial version of Lightroom CC installed previously on that computer? If you have, then you cannot start trial over again by reinstalling.

No I've never had it installed before. I've had photoshop installed but not lightroom.

Did you first install it as a trial a few days ago or just now?
The trial is limited to 7 days.

The first two times I tried to install it yesterday it only installed up to 2% and then gave me an error code (1002 I believe). This forum said to uninstall Adobe Cloud all together and retry. So I did. Then the last time it installed it said "Installed successfully but one patch not installed" error code U44something.....U44M1P7 something like that. This forum said that the error code meant the install was unsuccessful and listed a bunch of confusing steps. Since my error code specifically said install successful, I did not attempt any of the steps listed here. I just opened it and tried to use it. Maybe that is the problem? Honestly, I started downloading the free trial around 10pm. By the time I got that last error message it was 11:30pm and I really just wanted to try it out at that point! This seems like such a hassle.
Also....my "free trial" of lightroom says it's good for 30 days. You say it's only 7? I noticed some complaints on this forum that the trial ended much more quickly than it was supposed to. I mean, at this point it doesn't really matter to me because I can't even use it! So frustrating.
