Help Needed Please: Watermelon rind

hi, i am very new the illustrator (i have been using Photoshop for logos before lol)

i was wonder how i make a green semi circle inside of the melon like the smaller logo seen at the bottom

Jack,

You may:

1) Select the path with the black stroke, then Object>Path>Offset Path by the right amount, see below;

2) Set the Fill to None and set the Stroke to the desired green colour and the desired Stroke Weight;

3) Deselect (Click an empty spot), then DirectSelect the straight upper left segment and press Delete.

If you have Stroke Aligned to Center use the negative amount corresponding to half the black stroke plus half the green stroke;

If you have Stroke Aligned to Inside use the negative amount corresponding to the black stroke;

If you have Stroke Aligned to Outside use the negative amount corresponding to the green stroke.
