High resolution images scaled down in Illustrator are blurry when zoomed in as PDF in Adobe Acrobat?

Hello! I am working on a label print design. Some of the elements are raster images. These images are GIANT like great resolution. When I embed them into my illustrator file and resize them to fit; I then save it as a PDF file. When I zoom in on the pdf file the raster elements are very blurry while the vector elements are not. However the images are so big that even when zooming in smaller than the original raster image size it still shows blurry. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The answer is i needed to disable all downsampling options on save in the PDF settings. This solved my issue.

The preview in illustrator is for FPO so if your file meets thaw effective resolution requirements this will print fine. If you wish to put your mind at ease you ion copy the elements, paste into Photoshop, and review this at 100% so you are viewing 1 pixel data to 1 pixel screen.

Embedding high resolution inside Illustrator is not a good idea you should link instead. This was your files will be slimmer, faster, and you can check the effective resolution any time you need to.

So there's no way for illustrator or a PDF to know that the image is scaled down to 10% even tho its 100%? if that makes sense? SO that when displaying the pdf at 100% its really only displaying the raster image at like 10% of its actual size anyways. So why when i zoom in doesnt it correct the quality? How do i fix that?

After scaling down you would need to sharpen the images. Illustrator doesn't do that and that's what you get.
