I'm trying to save file I've made on illustrator in pdf but as soon as I do that and I open the file as image the background changes colour and it gets white.  Maybe I need to insert the right settings for the pdf format . Can anyone help me please??

The file I've made it's a big poster that it will be printed.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand image in the background changes colour when saved as PDF. In addition to the suggestions shared above, could you please confirm which PDF Preset you are using to save the file? I would recommend using PDF/X-4.

This preset creates ISO PDF/X-4:2008 files that support live transparency (transparency is not flattened) and ICC color management.

For more details about PDF presets, you can also refer to this help article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/creating-pdf-files.html#adobe_pdf_presets

Let us know if this helps or if you need any further assistance.

Regards,

Srishti

Where do you open the file as image?
And why? You can print a pdf.

Maybe show some screenshots?

Most PDFs will have a white background in the PDF viewer.
